Background

You are manager of a team at Mendelssohn’s Bank. You hold meetings with your team every Wednesday. The purpose of these meetings is for you to update your staff with events in the bank and for an exchange of views and news.

 

This week you have the following things to tell your staff:-

 

  1. Mary, a long-term temp who has been with you for the last year is leaving. She has been offered a permanent post in the accounts department. The project she has been working on is nearing completion. You will carry out a study into work flow to see who can absorb Mary’s work easily.
  2. Ian from a neighbouring team is being made redundant. This is due to lack of business which has affected his team.
  3. You need to collect views on what to do at Christmas. You will have a small budget at your disposal. The principal question is should you just have a team outing, a departmental outing or should there be an event for the whole of Operations?
  4. Your assistant has been to a meeting and has learned that they are intending to upgrade the PCs that you use in your department.
  5. On the business side: the Investment Management division have won three new pensions accounts, Mahler Hotels, Mozart Leisure, Sargeant Building Contractors. The New Issues department are lead managing a major bond issue for Uchida Holdings, the largest Japanese computer hardware manufacturer.
