Brief For Leslie Smithers; Manager, Public Relations

Appraisor

You are the Manager responsible for Public Relations at Hammerstein Rogers, a leading travel company. Your areas of responsibility include producing the firm’s annual report and other promotional documents, issuing press releases and liaising with the press. You have an assistant public relations officer and a secretary. You now have to carry out an appraisal on the assistant public relations officer, Jacqui Palmer.

 

Jacqui is 27. She has a degree in English literature from Bradford University. On graduating, she trained as a journalist with a local newspaper. She joined Hammerstein Rogers just over a year ago having decided on a change of career into public relations. She helps out on all the areas that come within your responsibility. Jacqui is a quiet, intelligent girl. She carries out a thoroughly satisfactory job. She gets on well with most people across the firm. She enjoys particularly good relations with the press. You feel increasingly that you can rely on her and leave her to handle day-to-day matters . You are quite happy leaving her to run the office when you are absent.
